Naxos Launches Canadian Classics with an all-Ryan disc
Naxos launched its Canadian Classics series on Sept. 27, 2011, with an all-Ryan programme performed by the Vancouver Symphony and special guests The Gryphon Trio, under the baton of Bramwell Tovey. Years in the making, this project chronicles Ryan's tenure as the Vancouver Symphony's Composer-in-Residence. Go to the Discography page for more information.

January 3, 2012: The Tokyo String Quartet's premiere performance of String Quartet #4: Inspirare will be broadcast on Radio-Canada's Espace Musique with host Françoise Davoine.
January 8, 2012: The Tokyo String Quartet's premiere performance of String Quartet #4: Inspirare will be broadcast on CBC Radio Two's In Concert. Host Bill Richardson also interviews composer Jeffrey Ryan.
January 14, 2012: Nocturne (Magenta) from Symphony #1: Fugitive Colours, performed by the Vancouver Symphony conducted by music director Bramwell Tovey, will be broadcast on CBC Radio Two's The Signal.
January 28, 2012: Soprano Xin Wang will sing the climactic aria And So I Killed a Man Tonight from The Laurels as part of Tapestry New Opera's "Tapestry Songbook", in the Ernest Balmer Studio, Distillery Historic District, in Toronto, Ontario.
January 29, 2012: With poetry by K.V. Skene, The Whitening of the Ox, a co-commission between Toronto's New Music Concerts and Vancouver's Turning Point Ensemble, will receive its world premiere by New Music Concerts, conducted by Robert Aitken and featuring baritone soloist Tyler Duncan, at Enwave Theatre in Toronto, Ontario. Composer Jeffrey Ryan will be in residence with New Music Concerts January 26-30, with support from The SOCAN Foundation.
February 8, 2012: Grace Period will be premiered by clarinetist Cris Inguanti at the Roy Barnett Recital Hall, at the University of British Columbia's School of Music, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
February 21/22/24 (7 performances): Gracey Blue will be performed by the Victoria Symphony, conducted by Tania Miller as part of its 2012 Education Concerts, at the Royal Theatre in Victoria, British Columbia.
March 25, 2012: The full expanded version of Dark Matters, commissioned by the Aventa Ensemble, will receive its world premiere by the members of Aventa, conducted by Bill Linwood, at the Phillip T Young Recital, University of Victoria, in Victoria, British Columbia.
March 25, 2012: Quince will be premiered by oboist Beth Orson as part of the Sonic Boom Festival, at the Western Front in Vancouver, British Columbia.
March 29, 2012: Visions of Joy will be performed by the L'Orchestre des jeunes du Québec maritime, led by music director James Darling, in Rimouski, Québec.
March 30, 2012: Two-By-Four will be performed by marimbist Gabriela Jimenez and the Ontario Philharmonic, conducted by Marco Parisotto, at the Regent Theatre in Oshawa, Ontario.
April 8, 2012: Visions of Joy will be performed by the combined L'Orchestre des jeunes du Québec maritime and l'Orchestre des jeunes de Terrebonne, led by guest conductor Bruno Conti, as part of the Festival des orchestres de jeunes du Québec. At Collège Saint-Sacrement in Terrebonne, Québec.
April 21, 2012: Brazen will be premiered by alto saxophonist Julia Nolan and the Vancouver Symphony, conducted by Bramwell Tovey, at the Roundhouse in Vancouver, British Columbia.
April 30, 2012: Brazen will be performed by alto saxophonist Julia Nolan and the Victoria Symphony, conducted by Bernhard Gueller, at the Royal Theatre in Victoria, British Columbia.
November 10, 2012: Afghanistan: Reqiuem for a Generation, with texts by Suzanne Steele, will be premiered by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, with vocal soloists, the CPO chorus and Cantaré Children's Choir, all conducted by Roberto Minczuk, at Jack Singer Hall in Calgary, Alberta. Commissioned by the Calgary Philharmonic and One Yellow Rabbit.
